Demosi's End

Guest Staring:
Kristin Norton as Hevesta

Tracy walked up to a door without a name on it. She pushed the button to open the door, but Karone pushed it again, causing the door to slam. Tracy gave her an evil look. Karone: "If you think I'm going to forget what you did out there, you're wrong." Tracy: "I never expected you to." Karone: "You're not even the least bit sorry are you? All those people died by your army and you couldn't give a da*n!" Tracy: "Weather you believe it or not, I am sorry." Karone: "You are no such thing." Tracy: "That's why I left the base. Don't you get it? I stopped the war! Its over!" Karone: "That doesn't change anything. That doesn't give them back their lives!" Tracy: "I can't do that! All I can do is look back and see where I went wrong. I can't turn back the clock!" Karone returned the evil look. Karone: "I hate that you're still alive. After everything you've done. I hate that you could walk away from that place without a scratch." Tracy: "I am sorry, Karone. I am. But there is nothing I can do." Karone: "So everything's supposed to be fine? Because there's nothing you can do? Well its not. You might get off that easy with Cerina but not with me." Tracy shook her head in frustration. Tracy: "What do you want me to do? Whatever it is, I'll do it!" Karone: "I will see that you pay for everything you did." Tracy: "I will be paying for it every night. I won't be able to close my eyes without seeing those people! Every time I see somebody on the street I'll remember everything I took from them! Believe me there is nothing you can do to me that will compare to that." Karone grabbed her arm. Karone: "Yeah? We'll see."
Niki went into her room and closed the door. Caster was looking out the window and turned when she came in. Caster: "She doesn't suspect anything?" Niki: "No way. All we talked about was Shelona. And how she wants us to get along." Caster: "Remember, don't let your guard down with her. Even though your mother might trust her, you shouldn't." Niki: "I have to go talk to her later." Caster: "You gave in? I thought that's why you ran away last night." Niki: "It was. I don't want anything to do with her." He looked confused. Niki: "I only gave in so she'd leave me alone. I figured if she kept bothering me about her, she might come in and find you here." Caster: "Good thinking." Niki glanced back at the door. Niki: "You don't think there's any way she could be telling the truth? I mean, people can change. Right?" He didn't answer at first. Caster: "Well... I guess it is possible. Why? Did you see some sign in her?" Niki went over and sat on her bed. Niki: "Not exactly. Ever since I found out who she was, Mom's been telling me all this stuff about her. From before she left home." Caster: "Like what?" Niki: "Like how good a person she was. How she took care of everything around the house." Caster: "I can't imagine her that way. All I've seen from her over the years is hatred. She never showed any emotion at all up until your arrival." Niki: "I can't see her being a good person either. But.... Mom's never lied to me before. I don't think she'd start now." Caster nodded.
Ice and Blaze suddenly found themselves in a huge empty field. It was night all of a sudden. The full moon was the only light across the field. Ice: "What happened?" Then they spotted Hevesta in the center of the field. Her face bore no expression. She stood perfectly still. Ice: "You're little game didn't work! You failed again just like you always did!" She smiled. Hevesta: "Do you really think that pathetic human was my revenge? She was mearly a distraction. She served her purpose and now... now the two of you will die together." Blaze: "You lying bi*ch! You promised me..." Hevesta: "I promised you nothing. You asked me for a chance to settle your score and I gave it to you. You had days out there in the jungle. Ample time to finish what you started." She paused. Hevesta: "Instead you chose to betray me. You joined forces with your enemy and for that you will both face the same fate." Blaze: "Was she right? Am I a vessel for you? Is that the only reason you saved me back there?" Hevesta let out an evil laugh. Hevesta: "Mortals are such stupid creatures. Did you actually believe I cared about your feud? It makes no difference to me at all." Blaze: "Then why me? Why not some other vessel? You could have taken anybody." Hevesta: "Using you gave my plan style. It made it... exciting. I couldn't bare to pass that up." Blaze lowered her eyes. Blaze: "You were right. You were right all this time." Ice: "Forget about her. You're not the first person she's used. But you'll sure as he*l be the last."
Kari and Rick were standing in front of a door in the hall. Kari: "So this is it." Rick: "Yeah." The door slid open and they walked inside. Kari: "Its pretty nice." Rick: "A new room will be a nice change." Kari: "I can't wait to have the baby. Then we can be one big happy family in here. With its room built right on to ours like Cerina and Niki's rooms." Rick: "Don't get your hopes up. We still have Vulca to deal with." Kari sighed. Kari: "Can't we forget about her for two seconds? She's running our lives!" Rick: "There's no telling what she's done to the planet since we left. We can't act like she doesn't exist." Kari: "So we're going right back into the war. No time for ourselves or anything." Rick: "We can't afford it. You've been a rebel longer than any of us. You should understand that." Kari: "I do. But that doesn't mean I'm happy about it. Believe it or not, I don't want to raise this baby in a war zone! Always worrying about Vulca and her soldiers. I really don't wanna subject another human life to that kinda torture." Rick: "What better reason to keep fighting her? If we defeat her, we'll be free. Our baby won't have to put up with the same cruel government we have. Its all we've ever known but it doesn't have to be that way. We can end this." Kari: "Oh you're so sure. I've been fighting her for a long time, Rick. She won't go down easy. I swear, there have been so many times I thought we had her. With my old team, ya know. Oh I was wrong. No matter how close we get, she always manages to take back control." Rick: "We also have Ransik and Cerina to deal..." He was interrupted by the ringing of his cell phone. Rick: "I have to take this." He went into the baby's room and closed the door. Kari thought: "Huh. I didn't know he even had a cell."
Tracy tried to pull away. Karone: "I could kill you so easily. And no one would even know." Tracy: "Let go of me." Karone didn't loosen her grip. Tracy: "I said let go!" Finally Tracy jerked her arm away. Tracy: "I know I shouldn't have done that! But you don't have the right to talk to me like I'm nothing. You did the exact same thing with Dark Spector! You and the rest of the alliance targeted entire galaxies! You don't have any idea how many people died after your attacks! All you cared about was your little fortress and pleasing your master!" Karone didn't speak. Tracy: "So tell me, how are you any better than me?" Karone: "You... you know about all that?" Tracy: "Yeah, I know it all, Astronema! So don't you ever come up to me acting like some kinda saint! I have seen your past and its nothing to be proud of!" Karone turned slowly and walked away.
Caster looked down at the bruises on his arm. Niki: "Hey, where'd you get those?" He let out a low growl as he remembered. Caster: "Shelona." Niki's eyes grew wide. She was noticing for the first time how beaten his body looked. His arms were black with bruises and burns; his face covered in scars. Niki: "Did she do all that?" He nodded. Caster: "The more I tried to break free from her control, the more she made me pay for it. Its the way she treated everyone around her. Though I was the only living creature in her army. She still treated me as if I were another robot. Like I felt no pain at all." He paused. Caster: "This is why I can't imagine her any other way. All I've ever got from Shelona is cruelty." Niki: "How many times did you try to get away?" Caster: "Only a few. The rest are from times I'd spoken out of turn, gave her the wrong look. Any little thing could set her off. Loosing a battle even. If something stood in her way, she took out her frustrations on me instead." Niki: "There's no way I'm ever going to trust her." Caster: "I'm glad to here that. I would never want any of this to happen to you." She began to look scared. Niki: "What if she goes after my mom?" Caster: "You may not have to worry. She... she may have changed." Niki: "And if she hasn't? Mom won't see any of this coming. She didn't see that side of her." Caster: "She couldn't do it here. Don't worry. Her army is gone. They're what made her so powerful. As long as her robots were there, nobody could have stopped her."
Hevesta: "Big words, ranger. Too bad you don't have what it takes to back them up." Blaze and Ice charged at her. She didn't even move. Two fire balls came flying from her septor, knocking the women to the ground. Hevesta: "Don't waste your time this way. Save you energy. You'll need it." She looked off into the distance as Kitana came running at them. She got up to the two fallen pilots. Then stared at Hevesta. Kitana: "Why did you bring me here? We're through!" Hevesta: "I thought you'd want to be here to see my dreams come true. To watch Demosi be reborn through Blaze." Kitana: "This is never going to work! Didn't you learn anything from using Burner?" Hevesta: "True, the rangers got in my way then." She looked around the big field. Hevesta: "Oh look, there aren't any to stop me now." Kitana: "Why won't you ever let this go? Learn to move on!" Hevesta: "Save it. I heard this same story from you yesterday. Your words mean nothing." Kitana bent down and helped them up. Ice: "You know her better than we do. Is there any way we can stop her?" Kitana looked up into the sky as a huge cloud mass came rolling in. Kitana: "It doesn't look good."
Rick: "What?" Man on the phone: "Where are you sir? You have to get back here." Rick: "I'm on my way. What's so da*n important?" Man: "One of our men... I think he's a traitor." Rick: "Why?" Kari walked up to the door and listened. Man: "One of our guys spotted him talking to Kitana. I think he may be in a position to give her some Dexicon." Rick: "Don't let him. If she gets it and takes it to Vulca its all over. Once she has it, she can run tests on it and find a cure." Man: "I don't think I can do anything to him. He takes the stuff himself. You know what it does to you. He's uncontrollable when he's like that." Rick didn't speak for a minute. Rick: "Fine. When I get in, I'll take care of him myself. Until then, keep him away from Vulca's men." Man: "If I can." Rick: "No if's. You will do it or you'll face me. And believe me you don't want that." He hung up the phone. Rick: "So Vulca, you think you've got me. Well you're wrong honey. I will be your downfall weather you like it or not." He walked back out into the main room. Kari: "So what was that about?" Rick: "Its nothing." She kept staring at him as he went to sit down. Rick: "What?" Kari: "Don't give me that. You said we were going to be honest with each other. Now I'm going to ask you again, what was that about?" Rick looked up at her angrily. Rick: "Can't you ever just leave it alone? No matter what I say or do its never enough for you! You have to keep pushing!" Kari: "I know you're lying, da*nit! Now answer the question!" Rick: "I told you it was nothing." Kari: "You threaten a guy for nothing? You're going to 'take care' of somebody over nothing? I don't think so!" He stood up again. Rick: "You were listening?" Kari: "I think I have a right to. Since you obviously won't tell me what's going on in your life. I have to find out this way." Rick: "I don't tell you stuff because... well... its none of you da*n business!"
Karone went into Ransik's room. They had taken him to an empty room and hooked up the machines to the fortress' power core. She sighed. Karone: "I'm glad you couldn't see me out there." She walked closer to his bed. Karone: "I lost it big time. Even after everything we said about putting our pasts behind us. I went up to her and turned right back into Astronema." She paused. Karone: "I can't believe I could be so cold. After all this time that woman is still inside me. I haven't gone off on anyone like that in years. No matter what they did to me, I let it go. But her. She's different somehow. Her attacking KO-35; it brought back the darkness inside me. I mean sure, I doing it for a good cause. Now. Problem is tomorrow may be different. I might attack somebody for something else. And before you know it, the Princess of Darkness is back. I don't think I can face that again." Her head was pounding from the stress. Karone: "I could really use you right now. I need somebody to talk to around here and... it seems like you're the only one who really understands me. We've been through a lot of the same stuff. And I just... I need somebody to convince me I'm not going backwards. To tell me I'm not going to become Astronema again." She glanced down at the locket around her neck. On it was her old symbol. The same one that had been on her septor. She stared at it for a long time, remembering attacking the rangers, fighting with Divatox, holding Zordon captive, everything. Karone: "Please wake up, Ransik. I need you. I feel like you could help me control this. Together we could make sure I never go back to that." She let the locket fall back into place. Karone: "Cerina made sure that wouldn't happen though. She deserves to be lying in this bed barely breathing. Not you."
Niki sighed. Niki: "I guess I have to get this over with." Caster: "Don't stress over it. All you have to do is go in there and talk for a while. Then Cerina will get off your back about it." Niki: "She says that, but I don't believe it. She wants this to work so bad. If I don't end up liking Tracy, she'll be crushed." Caster: "So you're going to lie to her?" Niki: "I have to. I can't tell her I don't like Tracy. After all the time she spent trying to make her good. Trying to make us a family. If I don't like her, then everything Mom did would have been for nothing." Caster: "You keep on surprising me. Most kids wouldn't even think of this kinda stuff. They'd go throw a fit and expect things their way." Niki: "I've done that too." Caster: "I don't doubt it. At least with this you're showing a great deal of maturity." Niki: "I guess that's just cause we've been close for so long. When she worked for Vulca all we had was each other." Caster: "I see." Niki: "She's never really been like a parent to me. More of a friend." Caster smiled. Niki: "Can you believe I have never been grounded in my life? Never!" Caster: "You got it good." Niki: "The only thing she does is worry too much." Caster: "Its natural for a parent to worry. You'll do it too when you have a kid." Niki: "Yeah yeah yeah." Caster: "Its true." Niki: "I know she does it cause she loves me. She's told me like a million times." She got up and walked towards the door. Niki: "I hope I like this lady. It would make things a whole lot easier." Caster: "Your mom sees something in her I don't. Maybe you'll see it too." Niki: "I better." She closed the door, then quickly opened it again. Niki: "Oh yeah, hide!"
Ice looked up as storm clouds came rolling in over them. Ice looked at Hevesta for a long time. Ice thought: "She hasn't moved since we got into this field. Not one inch. Like she doesn't have any reason to. Like she doesn't fear us at all. Is she bluffing or is this for real? Did she really find a way to bring back that monster this time?" Her thoughts were interrupted by Blaze. She fell to the ground and screamed in pain. Ice ran to her side. Ice: "What is it? What's happening?" Blaze: "I don't know!" She continued to scream. Ice looked back at Hevesta, who stood watching them. Ice: "She's amused. This is actually entertaining her." Kitana: "What are you doing to her?" Hevesta: "All part of the transformation. In a matter of minutes my beloved will return to this world where this worthless human departed." Red veins began to show through Blaze's arms. Her entire body began to shake uncontrollably. Ice thought: "This is real. She's found a way to make a permanent vessel." Hevesta: "Now Kitana, are you sure you won't reconsider? There is still a place for you in our empire." Kitana: "Drop dead. I don't need your chances. I'm finished with you. Both of you." Hevesta: "Demosi won't like to hear you say that." Kitana walked closer to her. Kitana: "Ya know what lady, I've had about all I can take of your mouth today. I am free and if Demosi don't like, too da*n bad!" Hevesta: "You were such a loyal warrior before. You never questioned us. Only followed our orders. You should seriously rethink your decision." Kitana: "I followed his orders back then. I don't work for you and I never did." Hevesta: "Is that so?" Kitana: "The only reason I gave you any respect at all was because you're Demosi's wife." Hevesta: "Fine. There goes your last chance, blondy." Ice looked worried as Blaze's eyes turned to solid black. Ice: "Kitana!"
Kari's eyes grew wide. Kari: "Excuse me?" Rick took a deep breath. Rick: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to come out like that." Kari: "Why not? Its what you really think." Rick: "No, Kari..." Kari: "I see. You tell me you'll never lie to me again, you tell me you love me and you'll tell me anything, but that was all a big joke." Rick: "Please let this go. I'm not going to tell you because its not that important." Kari: "There you go again! This is big whatever it is. I can see it in your face! Now tell me!" Rick: "Its nothing to worry about. I will take care of it when we get back to Stregna. Then everything will be fine." Kari: "No it won't. Things aren't fine between us. I gave us another shot because I love you. I want this to work." Rick: "So let it." Kari: "I can't if you're going to keep lying. I trusted you when you told me you wouldn't. And I need to keep trusting you. If I can't then we have to end this." Rick: "I'm not going to lie to you about important stuff." Kari: "Oh here we go again. Tell Kari what she wants to here so I can score." Rick: "You're over reacting." Kari: "That's all I am to you isn't it? A piece'a a*s!" Rick: "Kari stop this! It was about my job." Kari: "Yeah, I figured." Rick: "There are parts of my job you can't know about. Its for your own safety. You need to learn to accept that." Kari: "Is this how its always gonna be? You going out doing God knows what while I stay home completely in the dark?" Rick: "Only until Vulca is gone. After that this whole thing is over." Kari: "It can't be. You said those guys needed the stuff to live. The ones who are addicted." Rick: "They do." Kari: "So..." Rick: "So do you really think I care? They got themselves hooked on it knowing they can never get off. Its not my fault." Kari: "You'd just let them die?" Rick: "Well.. yes! They can't be a useful part of society anyway! Not with the side effects. It makes them crazy. Once Vulca's gone we don't need people like that anymore." Kari: "I don't believe this. You really don't care if they live or die." He shook his head. Kari: "How can you be this way?" Rick: "I told you how I was from the beginning." Kari: "And I tried to deal with it. I chose to look the other way while you ruined people's lives. But I thought you at least felt sorry about it." Rick: "There's no use in feeling sorry. It won't make a difference. They are beyond help now. All my associates can do is feed their addiction until there's enough people on it to over throw Vulca. Don't you see? It makes them crazy and immune to pain. They're the perfect weapon against her." Kari: "At what cost?"
Karone started to walk back and forth across the room. She ran her hands through her long blonde hair. Karone: "Sometimes I feel so alone. Like there's nobody in the world who cares what I do. I hardly see Andros anymore. I messed things up with Zhane. And Taylor... that was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time. I should have known he was too good to be true." She paused. Karone: "I thought having Ecliptor back in my life might change this. He was the reason I came to Stregna. I thought maybe things could be like they were when I was growing up. We were so close back then. We shared everything, no matter how big or small it was. He knew everything about me. And except for that one lie about my family, I knew everything about him. It was perfect." She glanced over at him, hoping maybe he had woken up. He still lay silent. Karone: "I was a fool to think things could be the same. He's totally distant. The same way he's been ever since Cyann died. Sometimes I think the man I knew died with her." She looked around the empty room. Karone: "And now look at me. I'm standing here talking to you as if you can hear me. God Ransik please wake up. There's no way I can make it on this ship without you. These people are... well ya know. I can't open up to them. They have their lives and couldn't be bothered to hear about mine. That's one of the things that makes you different from all of them. You really care." She shook her head. Karone: "If you weren't in that bed, I know you'd tell me I could go to Kelly. And I'm glad you have someone to love. But honestly, you don't see her for who she is." She walked up beside him again. Karone: "I never understood how a woman like that could ever end up with someone like you. Its not right. I try everything and what do I get in return? Broken friendships, a failed marriage, and whole lotta trouble. Its not fair." She sighed again. Karone: "Oh well. I guess that's life. She and Cerina can be conniving liars and find happiness. While I try to be a good person and suffer for it." She leaned over right beside his face and talked softly. Karone: "There's something I've been wanting to say to you since that night in the bar. And I'd better say it now. Otherwise, I may never get the chance."
Tracy stood looking around her empty room. Tracy: "The woman thinks she scares me. I'll show her." Niki came up and saw the door was open. She knocked on it anyway. Niki: "Tracy." She turned, surprised. Tracy: "Niki! Hi!" Slowly, she made her way into the room, not sure what to do. Tracy could tell she was nervous. Tracy: "You believe this place? Its like they ran outta rooms so I got the closet." Niki smiled. Niki: "Me and Mom have a really big room." Tracy: "I'll bet." They were silent for a long time. Neither had any idea what to say. Tracy: "So you wanna sit down?" Niki: "Okay." They sat in two chairs by the small window. Tracy smiled hopefully. Tracy: "Well, tell me about yourself. I haven't seen you since you were a baby." Niki: "Not much to tell. I just follow Mom." Tracy: "You were a beautiful baby. I still remember the look on your mom's face when she showed you to me. She was so proud." Niki didn't know how to respond. Niki: "Okay." They were silent for a minute once again. Tracy: "Look, I can tell you're nervous about this. And you should be. Some weird lady comes outta nowhere and all of a sudden you've got an aunt. Its enough to freak anybody out. Especially given my past." Niki: "Yeah." Tracy: "I have changed. I'm not the same person you met on the battle field." Niki: "I wanna believe you." Tracy: "You can. I promise you I will not hurt you or the other rangers ever again. Turing myself into Shelona... it was a mistake. Probably the biggest one I ever made. And it would mean a lot to me if we could be a family again." Niki: "I know. That's what Mom said." Tracy: "And she's why you're here. Isn't she?" She didn't answer right away. Niki: "Well..."
Ice: "Kitana come on!" She ran back to the two of them. Kitana: "I've heard a legend about this. Black eyes are a sign of pure evil. The one way to know this thing is permanent." Ice: "You've seen it before?" Kitana: "I wasn't sure at first, but now I know. There was a scroll in the palace that talked about this. Its a last resort for them. If this fails, its the end. No more body, no more spirit. Demosi is finished." Ice: "Well how do we stop her?" Blaze's skin began to rip. Blood ran down from the slits which formed all the way down her. Kitana looked up and saw a ball of red fire in the sky. Kitana: "No. We don't have much time." Ice: "Kitana listen to me! How do we stop them?" The wind started to blow harder than before, making it nearly impossible to hear each other. The thunder boomed all around them. Kitana: "We have to end this once and for all!" Ice: "How?" Kitana: "Get out of here now! I'll take care of it!" Ice: "I'm not leaving! Tell me what to do!" Hevesta stood right in the path of the wind. She let her helmet fall to the ground and ran her hands through her hair. Hevesta: "Come to me Demosi! The time has come for you to live again! At long last be reborn!" Ice: "You can't do this alone!" Kitana: "I can survive! Trust me!" Ice: "I'm not going!" Kitana grabbed her arm and held onto her. Kitana: "I'm sorry, but you don't have a choice Silver Ranger. You have to go." Kitana made Ice disappear in the same way she always did from battle. An evil laugh escaped Hevesta's throat. Her eyes were filled with excitement as the fire ball in the sky grew larger and larger. Hevesta: "You're too late! You can't come between us this time! No one will!"
Rick: "I know you care about people. You naturally wanna save them." Kari: "I'm a Ranger. Its my job." Rick: "These people can't be saved." Kari: "You said there could be a cure. If Vulca got it she could save them." Rick: "You're siding with her now?" Kari: "Lord no! I'm saying if she can help them, so can we." Rick: "Then she'd win. And we'd be broke. These people help us fight and put food on our table. We can't cure them. And we can't let Vulca do it either." Kari: "This whole thing makes me sick." Rick: "Why do you think I try to keep you out of it? If you'd learn to mind your own business we wouldn't have a problem at all." Kari: "If you want some woman that will obey your every command, stay quiet when you say, mind her business when you tell her, you'd better look some place else cause that ain't me. I'm loud, I'm nosy, and I have a heart. Your worst nightmare ain't it?" Rick: "I know that and I love you for it. But that's why we're having this fight. You want me to tell you stuff, but you don't wanna hear it. Pick one! You know what my life is like and you can't stop it. Either you can act like it doesn't happen or you can learn to deal with it. The choice is yours." Kari: "I thought I could deal with it. I did." Rick: "Now you're not sure." Kari: "I want to help them, but I understand if I can't. No matter what I want you to be honest with me. All right. Please tell me." Rick: "You want to be involved in this?" Kari: "I want to be a part of your life. And this is your life. So yes." He held his head for a minute. Rick: "Fine. There's this guy that needs the stuff. I mean, real bad. And I'm going to get it to him. The man that took my place while I was gone doesn't have access to enough to help him. So I have to do it." Kari: "All right. That's all I wanted." Rick leaned over and kissed her. Then left the room. Kari thought: "Do I look stupid to you? I know a lie when I hear one. But I will find the truth one way or another." Her thoughts were interrupted by Cerina. Cerina: "You're a real piece'a work, Kari."
Karone: "Sometimes I think there could have been something between us. If we had met differently. Another time, another place. Maybe we could have been more than we are. And even though I know its not possible, I wish some how it could be. Oh well. I hope Kelly knows how lucky she is to have you. You're the best thing that ever happened to that woman." She turned slowly and headed for the door. She looked back at him one last time, the went back out into the hall. When she closed the door she saw Kelly coming up to her. Kelly: "Any change?" Karone: "Nope. Sorry." She took a hit off her cigarette and blew the smoke in the opposite direction from Karone. Kelly: "I am going to pay Cerina back for this. I don't know how, but I swear I will." Karone: "You can't prove she did it though." Kelly: "That's the way she wants it. Whoever those guys were, they're professionals. They don't make mistakes and she knows it. We can't legally pin anything on her." Karone: "So you're going after her yourself?" Kelly: "What choice do I have? I can't let her get away with this." Karone: "Be careful. You don't want her men doing the same thing to you." Kelly: "Oh I'm not planning on going after her directly. I'd end up in there right next to him. Besides, a little cat fight wouldn't mean anything to her. I want her to suffer for this. The way she's made me suffer these past few days." Karone: "Good luck. She's an evil bi*ch. Finding a way to make her pay other than violence could be a problem." Kelly: "Don't underestimate me. She has been messing up my life and Ransik's ever since we joined this team. Its time to put a stop to it." She threw the cigarette into an ashtray that was attached to the wall of the fortress and went into Ransik's room. Karone went on down the hall.
Niki: "She's part of the reason. She's always gave me what I want even when she didn't have to. So I wanted to do the same for her. I want to give her the family she wants." Tracy: "So what's the other part? You said part of the reason." Niki: "Part of me wants to know you too." Tracy: "I'm glad to here it." Niki: "Mom told me a lot about how you used to be; before you left. If you're the way you were then, it would be nice to have you around. I've kinda wondered what the rest of the family was like." Tracy: "Cerina doesn't talk about us much?" Niki: "No. She didn't mention any relatives at all till you came." Tracy: "Probably not. Our parents aren't her favorite people in the world. And she thought she'd never see me again." Niki: "She didn't talk about my Dad for a long time either. Said it hurt to much. Is it the same with your parents?" Tracy thought for a minute. Tracy: "Kind of. Our mother is the one she doesn't like. After she cheated on our father, Cerina and I lost all respect for her. He left when I was seven." Niki: "That sucks." She nodded. Tracy: "Cerina took it harder than I did. She was younger and watched their last words to each other. I can't imagine how she must have felt watching Dad walk out." Niki: "Where'd he go?" Tracy looked sad thinking about it. Tracy: "I don't know. Nobody ever saw him after that night. Mom drove him out of our lives forever. And for what? Some worthless one night stands." Tracy stopped. Tracy: "Why am I boring you with this stuff?" Niki: "No, go on. Please. I've never heard any of this before." Tracy: "Well after Dad left, Mom was out every night. She'd come in from work just long enough to get ready and then back out the door she'd go. Sometimes she didn't come home till three or four in the morning. Even then smelling like a bar." Niki: "I'm glad I never met her." Tracy: "I wish I could say the same."
Kitana rolled out of the way as the fire ball from the sky came towards Blaze. She looked back when she stopped to see all of the fire going into her chest. She was screaming wildly. Kitana thought: "This has to stop." She got up and charged Hevesta. She tried to knock her over, but Hevesta smacked her down the the septor. Then picked up up by her hair. The two were face to face; Kitana struggling to get free. Hevesta: "Did you really think it would be that easy?" Hevesta punched her in the face while she held onto her. She repeated that twice more, then let her fall. Blaze had stopped screaming now. Her skin was in shreds, hanging off her body. Slowly, she sat up. Hevesta walked slowly to her side and extended her hand. She looked into her empty, black eyes and smiled. Hevesta: "Is it really you, my darling?" Demosi through Blaze's body: "Yes." His voice was deep and seemed strange coming from a woman's mouth. Kitana looked up at the two of them from the ground. Hevesta put her arms around him and locked her lips to his. They stayed holding each other in the same kiss for what seemed like forever. Kitana eventually had to look away. Finally, they finished and Demosi noticed her for the first time. Demosi: "Ah Kitana. You've come for my resurrection." Kitana: "I didn't come here to serve you, Demosi. I will never be your slave again. Understood?" Demosi: "I don't think you're in the position to be making such statements. You see we hold the power here. And when we take over, all will serve us or parish." Hevesta rested her head on his chest. He ran his hand through her hair. Demosi: "You are a sight for sore eyes. Just seeing you again makes those years of floating through empty space seem worth it." Hevesta: "I couldn't let you stay in such a world. You mean too much to me." Kitana stood back up. Hevesta: "I think its time we set an example. Show the world what happens to those who betray us." Kitana's breath caught in her throat.
Cerina came into Kari's room and closed the door. Cerina: "Real good. How could you stand there and raise he*l with him for lying?" Kari: "Because if he wants this relationship to work, I have to trust him." Cerina: "Hello! You're lying to him right now! The baby! Or did you forget?" Kari: "I sure forgot when this became any of your business. We're finished, remember?" Cerina: "You can't stand me anymore. I get that. I'm looking out for Rick here. You aren't my concern now." Kari: "This isn't hurting him. Nobody's life is in danger." Cerina: "I'm sure he went to the kitchen for a beer. It would serve you right if I went right in there and told him the truth about this whole thing." Kari: "Cerina, no. Please." Cerina: "I thought that's what you would want. You seem to be off on some honesty kick all of a sudden." Kari: "He could get hurt out there doing this stuff. That's why I want the truth so bad. I worry about him. But nobody could get hurt from my lie." Cerina: "Rick could." Kari: "Not if he doesn't know. I'm begging you, please don't do this." She thought for a moment. Cerina: "Fine. You were my friend and I'll respect that." Kari: "Thank you." She laughed. Cerina: "He will find out though. Sooner or later." Kari: "There's no way. You're the only one who knows. You and Niki." Cerina: "You can't hide this kinda stuff forever. It always comes out. And if you don't tell him, it could ruin what you all have together." Kari: "Why should you care?" Cerina: "You're mad at me over Tracy and trying to kill Ransik. I'm not mad at you. I see you two have a good thing going... when you're not at each other's throats. I don't wanna see you mess it all up over this one little thing. Its not a big deal. Not if you come clean now." Kari: "I can't. Then our baby would be a constant reminder of our time apart. Scorn was a mistake and I want him to remain in the past. If Rick knows, then Scorn would live on through our child and I will never be able to accept that." Cerina: "I guess you're not going to tell the baby either?" Kari: "He*l no. What's the point?" Cerina: "I think it has a right to know who its parents are. Its real parents." Kari: "Rick will be the father. Not by blood but in every other way that counts." Cerina put her hands up in front of her. Cerina: "All right, all right. I'll shut up." Kari: "That would nice." Cerina shook her head. Cerina: "You're making a mistake. I hope you realize that." She walked out, closing the door behind her.
Niki: "Mom said she's why you ran away." Tracy: "Yeah. She had me taking care of Cerina, the house, and eventually the bills. She lost her job about a year after the divorce. I did it for a long time. I wanted to prove Cerina and I didn't need her. I figured if she didn't want us, we could make it on our own." Niki: "Sounds like you'd have been better off without her." Tracy: "That's for sure. After a while I started to realize my teenage years were passing me by. I spent what were supposed to be the best years of my life stuck in a house raising my little sister. I couldn't take it anymore. I finally said forget it. Broke the chains and left the place behind. I swear walking away I never wanted to see any of my family again. Not after all the grief they put me through." Niki: "Man! So why'd you want to come here then? If you didn't wanna see us?" Tracy: "I was wrong then. I blamed everyone for my life when in fact, it was just my Mom. I thought Cerina was tying me down back then." She sighed. Tracy: "Now I look back and think I should have taken her with me. She was only a kid then. It wasn't her fault. All she needed was someone to take care of her." Niki: "So it was her and Grandma alone?" Tracy: "Yeah. Though she spent as much time with Jim as possible. Your dad was probably the only thing getting her through it all." Niki had her feet up in the chair. Mad, she kicked the chair several times. Niki: "She keeps saying how great he was. He's everything she wanted and how much he loved me." Tracy: "Oh you have no idea. You were daddy's little girl from the beginning." Niki: "Its not fair! I wanna know him like she does! She has all these memories and stuff and I can't remember anything." Tracy: "I'm really sorry. You deserve to know your father." Her eyes began to water. She hid her face in her knees and started to cry.
The two of them walked closer to her. She was breathing hard. When they were right in front of her, she made her move. Quickly, she jumped into the air and flipped over their heads. Once of the other side, she spotted Hevesta's septor on the ground. She had dropped it during the kiss. She ran full speed and grabbed it. Hevesta and Demosi turned and gasped. Hevesta: "Drop it!" She shook her head no. Then ran at them. She stuck the septor into the ground a little and used it as a pole-vault. With it, she went flying through the air and kicked Hevesta down. Demosi threw a punch, but she ducked and grabbed the septor again. While close to the ground, she used it to trip him. Then stood back up right. Kitana: "You have plagued the world for too long. Its time for you to go. Permanently." She held the septor above his chest. Hevesta got back up but stopped when Kitana pulled her sword out with her other hand. She held it at Hevesta's throat. She looked back down at Demosi one last time. Kitana: "We used to be close. Years ago I thought you were the only man in the world. And believe it or not, it took a ranger to show me how wrong I was. You're sick and I'm sorry I never saw it before." She hit Hevesta in the face with the end of the sword, dropped it, and put both hands on the septor. Kitana: "Good bye, old friend." Finally, she took a deep breath and drove the septor into his chest. When it went through him, a giant explosion came up from the ground. For five minutes all she could see was fire around her. When it had cleared, she was on the ground, barely able to move. She used the last of her strength to stand. She saw the hole in the ground where Demosi had been and looked in all directions. Kitana: "No. This can't be." She started to look faster. Kitana: "Where is she?" Blind with rage, she picked up the sword and threw it. It stuck in the ground when she did. Kitana: "Hevesta!" She yelled the name into the dark sky, knowing she had failed. Hevesta had lived.
Tracy didn't know how to react. Tracy: "Niki please stop. I.. I don't..." Niki: "I want him back. I wanna be able to remember him. But I can't! I don't know what he looks like, I've never heard his voice! Nothing!" Tracy: "I didn't mean to upset you." Niki: "Its not you. I've always wanted this. Even when I didn't know what he was like. I wish there was some way I could go back. Before the virus. Before he died and talk to him. Just one time. I wanna be able to say I knew him." Tracy: "I understand. He was a he*l of a guy." Niki: "I know its impossible. He's gone and I need to deal with it." Tracy: "I think you're dealing with it pretty well. Better than I could have." She wiped the tears from her eyes. Niki: "Why did he have to die?" Tracy sat there for a minute, thrown. Tracy: "I don't know. Sometimes things happen for no reason. We can't explain them. All we can do is learn to accept them." Niki didn't respond. Tracy: "You're right about one thing though. It isn't fair. Not to you or him. He would have given anything to watch you grow up. He wanted to be there for you when you needed him. He wanted to see you become a woman he'd be proud of." Niki sighed. Niki: "I'm gonna go." Tracy nodded. Tracy: "All right. I guess I'll see ya later." Niki: "Yeah."
Niki went back into her room. Caster came walking out of the closet when he heard the door close. Immediately he noticed her face was red from crying. Caster: "What's wrong? Why are you crying?" He paused. Caster: "Did she do something. I swear to God I'll..." Niki: "No. She didn't do anything." Caster: "Then what is it?" She went up to him and he put his arms around her. Niki: "We got to talk'n about my dad. I always do this when I think about him." Caster: "Where is he?" Niki: "He died years ago." Caster: "Oh." Niki: "Tracy doesn't seem like a bad person. Not now." Caster: "I don't know what to say." Niki: "She acts sorry for killing those people. Maybe she is good again. The way she used to be." She looked at the cut on his face again. Niki: "I wanted to ask her about you. Ya know, see if she's sorry about treating you the way she did." Caster: "Don't." She looked surprised. Caster: "She'd know something was up." Niki: "From me asking?" Caster: "Its possible. We fought several times when I worked for her, so it wouldn't make any sense for you to care about me." Niki: "Well I do." Caster: "That isn't the point. She can't know about this. If she does, she'll tell Cerina. And you know what'll happen then." Niki: "She can't say anything. She's doing the same thing I am." Caster: "What?" Niki: "She's hiding a guy too. This boyfriend of hers, Lucas. He's a Time Ranger." Caster: "I don't get it. Why would she hide him? She's a grown woman." Niki: "She doesn't want Ransik and Kelly to know he's here. If they did, they'd leave. Then there's no way we could beat Vulca." Caster: "I still don't think she'd allow this. Even though what she's doing is similar. Its not exactly. She would see me as dangerous after what I did to her and the rest of them." Niki: "I guess you're right."
Kitana came back into the palace, burnt from the explosion. Vulca gasped. Vulca: "What happened to you? Where have you been?" Kitana: "Don't ask." She threw a few punches into the air and one kick trying to release some anger. Vulca: "Something's obviously bothering you." Kitana: "Na Vulca, what was your first clue?" Vulca: "Don't get smart. I'm trying to help you." Kitana: "You can't help. Its over." Vulca: "I don't understand why you won't tell me. I thought we were past this. The whole silent treatment thing you gave me in the beginning. I was hoping we were becoming friends." Kitana: "Where's it written friends have to tell each other everything." Vulca: "It isn't. I thought it might help though. To be able to talk this out." She walked over to a stone pillar and started punching it. Once she stopped, she turned back to Vulca. Kitana: "Fine. Its Hevesta, all right." Vulca: "The woman from yesterday. White dress?" Kitana: "Yeah." Vulca: "What happened?" Kitana: "She tried to bring back her husband; like she said she was gonna. And she brings me and the Silver Ranger there to watch her little show." Vulca: "So what's the problem?" Kitana: "They're both totally crazy! So I killed Demosi." Vulca: "That's great!" Kitana: "No, it isn't. When I did it, I thought the explosion would take out Hevesta too. No such luck." Vulca: "She wouldn't come back. Would she?" Kitana: "No. Not right away. She'll stay hidden, scheming, planning. Might be another 20 years down the road. But as long as she's out there, she'll be back. I can never be rid of her now." Vulca: "She could learn to move on." She rolled her eyes. Kitana: "She can't. She don't know how. Never has." She paused. Kitana: "He*l, nobody around here knows how to forget anything. Take you and Olympius! If you saw him now..." Vulca looked angry. Kitana: "I... I'm sorry. It was a bad example. I didn't mean..." Vulca: "You know there's no way I can forget about him." Kitana: "Well I did the same thing to Hevesta out there. I took away someone she loved just like he did you. She won't let this go. I'm gonna have to keep looking over my shoulder every minute of the day. I never know when she'll strike." Vulca: "You have my armies to help you." Kitana: "Its not enough. Would the demons stop you if you had a shot at the prince?" She thought for a moment. Vulca: "You're right."
Hevesta stood on a mountain looking out at the ocean. She wore a black dress which was tight around her; her hair down. Hevesta: "You haven't seen the last of me Kitana. You took away my world and one day you will pay for it." She bent down up picked something up from the ground. A black rose. Hevesta: "When you least expect it, everything you know will cease. Your world will be gone and I will have my revenge."
